Museum Eleanor
Travel advice…Jamaica?
Several travel books and websites have told me to avoid certain routes, particularly in the Kingston area, but none actually tell me where these routes are. I intend on going into Kingston, to go to the Bob Marley museum, but I think this is in a safer area than the more downtown places. I would like some advice from an experienced traveler or someone who has been to Jamaica to know which specific routes I should avoid, and what areas in Jamaica are safer than others. Which areas would you personally recommend? Do you have any particular travel advice for Jamaica? I will be grateful for any tips.

I’d recommend you stay in the areas where toursists usually stay – Montego Bay, Negril or Ocho Rios. You can go to Kingston from any of these areas even though it would be fairly expensive if you hire private transportation. I would’t recommend taking public transportation to Kingston unless you are with someone who is very familiar with the area.
