what does “School & Library binding” mean?
I’ve been adding books to my amazon wish list and see several editions listed as “School & Library binding”. What exactly does that mean. I understand it was probably an old library or school edition, but what specifically are the characteristics of a “school & library” edition book that make it different from a standard hardcover or paperback.
It means that the binding and hardcover are especially strong and reinforced. For examples, the pages are generally glued and sewn into the binding, rather than just glued. They need to be sturdy because they will be read by many, many people, shoved in backpacks/totebags, and generally treated carelessly.
However, all of the content (the text itself, and any pictures), will be exactly the same as a trade edition.
