Is 39 too old to become a deputy sheriff? Should I go to school first, and where?
I’m interested in becoming a deputy sheriff. I will be 40 in August. Is this too old? Is it beneficial to go to school first, or go after you get a job in the field? What schools are best to go to if you want credits that are useful elsewhere? What sites are good to look at and who is best to talk to?
It depends on where you are.
If you already have a degree (in anything) then you don’t need to go back to school. Go to the sheriff’s department and apply.
Even if you don’t have a degree, 39 is NOT too old for most local and state Law Enforcement Jobs. Check with them and see if they require a degree; you may not have to go back to school.
