Durham VS Sussex on the Grand Venue of Riverside CCG
In 2009 the great match between Durham and Sussex is going to take place in Riverside county cricket ground. Riverside County Cricket Ground is a cricket venue in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, England. It is home to Durham County Cricket Club. The club was accepted as first-class cricket on the building of a new Test match-standard cricket ground. In 1990, work began on the new ground at the Riverside, a tremendous location. The development could be seen until now. The Club played in a variety of locations around the county, in its first three seasons in the County Championship. It was announced that Riverside ground was ready for cricket in time for the 1995 season, even though many of the buildings were still not ready and were temporary. The teams of Durham and Warwickshire will play against each other on May 18, 1995
One-day International between Australia and Pakistan was scheduled in 2009, but the match was abandoned due to the condition of weather. Riverside Ground raised to Test match status in 2003, but has so far only been used for four England Test matches, against Zimbabwe in 2003, Bangladesh in 2005 and West Indies in 2007 and 2009. On18 June 2007, the fourth day of the West Indies test, Paul Collingwood hit a century on his home pitch for England against the West Indies. In this way Paul Collingwood became the first local Durham player to hit a Test century at the Riverside. An enthralling first-day’s play at the Riverside ground was shared by Durham and Yorkshire.
